Journey to the land of the Tehuelche: Explorations in Southern Patagonia

Ramón Lista (Author)

REVIEW:

Ramón Lista (1856-1897) was an explorer and military officer born in Argentina. He founded the Argentine Geographical Society and was a disciple of the naturalist Germán Burmeister.
His book, *Journey to the Land of the Tehuelche*, published in 1879, recounts Lista's early explorations of Argentine Patagonia, revealing him as a cultured and controversial figure among his social class, as he later fathered a daughter with a Tehuelche woman and gave her his surname. Despite this, Lista is held responsible for a massacre of the Ona (Selk'nam) Indians on Tierra del Fuego in 1886.
This edition features the illustrations originally published in 1879.
